A huge congratulations to Anthony Wu, our 2024 College Dux and an outstanding HSC achiever. Anthony earned All-Rounder status with top-band results across all his subjects, achieving an extraordinary ATAR of 99.80. His remarkable State Rank in Chemistry places him among the elite scholars in one of the state’s most demanding subjects.

Anthony’s success stems from his relentless drive to improve. He actively sought feedback from teachers, embracing every chance to refine his work and achieve incremental gains. His commitment to the infinitesimal – whether perfecting English phrasing, mastering countless practice papers in Math Extension, or dedicating long hours to Chemistry revision – reflects the same focus and discipline found in top athletes. Anthony credits Sydney Science College’s structured learning environment and dedicated staff for supporting his growth. “It’s a great place to go to school,” he said. “The staff set high bars for success and help us gain confidence. It’s such a well-honed recipe for success and university acceptance…I’m really proud to have been part of it.”

His advice to future students? “Listen in class, put in the practice time, be willing to ask for advice and leave your ego at the door. Draw upon those around you…we encouraged each other, formed study groups, created WhatsApp chats, quizzed each other and drove everyone around us a little crazy. But in the end it paid off.” And it certainly did, with every one of our 2024 graduates offered their top university preference. For Anthony, that means pursuing his dream degree: Computer Science at UNSW, building on his passion for game design, which he’s showcased in competitions.

We couldn’t be prouder of what Anthony’s achieved and look forward to seeing where his future takes him. When asked where he’s headed for the summer, Anthony simply replied: “Everywhere,” a fitting reflection of his ambition and curiosity. Congratulations, Anthony – your journey is just beginning!
